With the support of the Revitalising Historic Buildings through Partnership Scheme, Aw Boon Haw Foundation and Haw Par Music Foundation has converted Haw Par Mansion into Haw Par Music, a centre for cross-cultural exchange through music, heritage and arts, with a social initiative. It aims to create a unique place where the heritage of the Haw Par Mansion integrates with the vibrant and enriched music education and arts programmes for the Hong Kong community.
1. Social Programmes
As part of our long-standing commitment to the betterment of Hong Kong, the core value of Haw Par Music's Social Programme lies in our community engagement initiatives. We host a minimum of 8 groups each month for social and resident groups, such as community centre, elderly group, underprivileged children and hospital/ rehabilitation group. Participants can enjoy a 45-minute interactive music appreciation and cross-cultural workshop led by our registered occupational or music therapist after a 60-minute guided tour.
2. Social Outreach Programmes - Music In The Community
Apart from conducting weekly guided and cultural tours, our students, faculty and practitioners will have the chance to connect with the community through music. Music brings joys to the particular groups in need, such as the underprivileged, the single-parent, the cancer patients or even the elderly who lives in nursing house.
3. Chamber Scramble! Fun Day
Our community outreach initiative bringing all walks of life, young and old, in an intergenerational chamber music jamming session with their instruments. Participants will be guided by our world-renowned faculty and will have the opportunity to play in an ensemble group while advancing their social and leadership skill set. A finale performance will be held at the end of the session at Haw Par Music, a Grade 1 heritage building.
